The Brooklyn Fair is an annual agricultural fair, sponsored by the Windham County Agricultural Society. The first fair was held in 1809 in Pomfret, CT. The fair was a success and it was held on a rotating basis between the towns of Brooklyn, Pomfret, and Woodstock. In 1849, the Society purchased the land the current fairgrounds is located on, creating its permanent home. The Society's goal in sponsoring the fair is to promote and preserve the regions agricultural heritage.
